At such a young age he was such a smart boy
People were impressed by his eloquence
Things were looking up right from the very start (of it?)
They put him into school, they put him on the teams
All the things a growing boy would ever need
He was making friends and he was making perfect marks
He was his father’s son
He could do it all but he was rather bored
Kept his open mind in the bottom drawer
Everything was fine as long as he could keep it up
Soon enough his train was pickin up some speed
Intersected intellect and sensory
Either all the eyes were blind or they were playing dumb
He was his father’s son
You wanna know just what the problem is
They bore the shit out of the promised kids
Go send them searchin for a an alternate
Solution something that’ll make them tick
As soon as he had blinked the world had passed him by
It slipped right underneath while he was getting high
He was left at home alone with no one else to blame
And when the feeling starts to creep back in his heart
He can see the life that he has torn apart
He cannot ignore the fact that he has come undone
He was his father’s son
